Material Design (codenamed Quantum Newspaper) is a design dialect developed in 2014 by Google. Expanding after the "greeting card" motifs that debuted in Yahoo Now, Materials Design makes more liberal use of grid-based designs, responsive transitions and animations, padding, and depth results such as lamps and shadows.Google announced Materials Design on June 25, 2014, at the 2014 Yahoo I/O conference.Developer Mat?as Duarte described that, "unlike real paper, our digital material can intelligently broaden and reform. Material has physical surfaces and edges. Seams and shadows provide meaning in what you can touch. " Google states that their new design vocabulary is dependant on printer ink and newspaper.Material Design can be used in API Level 21 and newer via the v7 appcompat library, which is used on nearly all Android devices created after 2009. Material Design will steadily be extended throughout Google's array of web and mobile products, providing a regular experience across all platforms and applications. Google has also released application programming interfaces (APIs) for third-party developers to incorporate the design language into their applicationsBy 2015 most of Google's mobile applications for Android acquired applied the new design terms, including Gmail, YouTube, Yahoo Drive, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, Yahoo Maps, Inbox, every one of the Yahoo Play-branded applications, also to a smaller degree the Stainless- internet browser and Google Keep.
