Materials Design (codenamed Quantum Paper) is a design terminology developed in 2014 by Google. Expanding after the "credit card" motifs that debuted in Google Now, Materials Design makes more liberal use of grid-based layouts, responsive transitions and animations, padding, and depth effects such as lighting and shadows.On June 25 google announced Materials Design, 2014, at the 2014 Google I/O conference.Custom made Mat?as Duarte explained that, "unlike real paper, our digital material can intelligently increase and reform.
