Material Design (codenamed Quantum Newspaper) is a design dialect developed in 2014 by Google. Expanding upon the "card" motifs that debuted in Google Now, Materials Design makes more liberal use of grid-based layouts, responsive transitions and animations, padding, and depth effects such as shadows and lighting.Google released Material Design on June 25, 2014, at the 2014 Yahoo I/O conference.Custom made Mat?as Duarte discussed that, "unlike real paper, our digital materials can grow and reform intelligently.
