Materials Design (codenamed Quantum Newspaper) is a design dialect developed in 2014 by Yahoo. Expanding upon the "credit card" motifs that debuted in Google Now, Material Design makes more liberal use of grid-based designs, responsive transitions and animations, padding, and depth results such as shadows and lamps.On June 25 google released Material Design, 2014, at the 2014 Google I/O conference.Designer Mat?as Duarte explained that, "unlike real paper, our digital materials can increase and reform intelligently. Material has physical surfaces and edges. Seams and shadows provide meaning in what you can touch. " Google state governments that their new design terms is dependant on printer ink and newspaper.Materials Design can be used in API Level 21 and newer via the v7 appcompat catalogue, which can be used on practically all Android devices manufactured after 2009. Material Design will slowly but surely be extended throughout Google's selection of web and mobile products, providing a constant experience across all platforms and applications. Google has also released application programming interfaces (APIs) for third-party developers to include the design language into their applicationsBy 2015 the majority of Google's mobile applications for Android os had applied the new design vocabulary, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Docs, Slides and sheets, Yahoo Maps, Inbox, every one of the Yahoo Play-branded applications, and to an inferior scope the Stainless- browser and Google Keep. The desktop web-interfaces of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Inbox and slides have contained it as well.The canonical execution of Materials Design for web request user interfaces is named Polymer. It contains the Polymer collection, a shim that delivers a Web Components API for web browsers that not implement the standard natively, and an elements catalog, like the "paper elements collection" that features visual components of the Material Design.
