Materials Design (codenamed Quantum Paper) is a design vocabulary developed in 2014 by Yahoo. The desktop web-interfaces of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Inbox and slides have integrated it as well.The canonical execution of Material Design for web program user interfaces is named Polymer. It contains the Polymer library, a shim that provides an online Components API for browsers that do not implement the standard natively, and an elements catalog, like the "paper elements collection" that has visual elements of the Material Design.
