Materials Design (codenamed Quantum Newspaper) is a design dialect developed in 2014 by Yahoo. Material has physical surfaces and edges. Seams and shadows provide meaning about what you can touch. " Google claims that their new design language is based on printer ink and paper.Materials Design can be utilized in API Level 21 and newer via the v7 appcompat library, which is employed on practically all Android devices produced after 2009. Material Design will steadily be extended throughout Google's array of web and mobile products, providing a regular experience across all applications and platforms.
