Materials Design (codenamed Quantum Newspaper) is a design words developed in 2014 by Google. Expanding upon the "credit card" motifs that debuted in Yahoo Now, Material Design makes more liberal use of grid-based layouts, responsive animations and transitions, padding, and depth results such as shadows and lamps.Yahoo declared Material Design on June 25, 2014, at the 2014 Google I/O conference.Designer Mat?as Duarte described that, "unlike real paper, our digital materials can broaden and reform intelligently. Materials has physical edges and areas. Shadows and seams provide indicating in what you can touch. " Google states that their new design language is dependant on paper and ink.Material Design can be used in API Level 21 and newer via the v7 appcompat library, which is employed on all Android devices made after 2009 virtually. Material Design will gradually be extended throughout Google's selection of web and mobile products, providing a steady experience across all applications and platforms. Google has also released application programming interfaces (APIs) for third-party developers to include the look language into their applicationsBy 2015 most of Google's mobile applications for Android had applied the new design language, including Gmail, YouTube, Yahoo Drive, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, Yahoo Maps, Inbox, every one of the Google Play-branded applications, also to a smaller scope the Stainless- internet browser and Yahoo Keep. The desktop web-interfaces of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Inbox and slides have designed it as well.The canonical execution of Material Design for web application user interfaces is named Polymer. It contains the Polymer catalogue, a shim that provides an online Components API for web browsers that do not implement the typical natively, and an elements catalog, including the "paper elements collection" that features visual components of the Material Design.
