Material Design (codenamed Quantum Paper) is a design words developed in 2014 by Google. Expanding after the "card" motifs that debuted in Google Now, Materials Design makes more liberal use of grid-based designs, responsive transitions and animations, padding, and depth effects such as shadows and lighting.Google declared Materials Design on June 25, 2014, at the 2014 Google I/O conference.Creator Mat?as Duarte explained that, "unlike real paper, our digital material can intelligently develop and reform. Material has physical surfaces and edges. Shadows and seams provide meaning about what you can touch. " Google states that their new design language is based on paper and ink.Materials Design can be utilized in API Level 21 and newer via the v7 appcompat catalogue, which is utilized on virtually all Android devices manufactured after 2009. Material Design will slowly but surely be extended throughout Google's selection of web and mobile products, providing a constant experience across all applications and platforms. Google has also released application programming interfaces (APIs) for third-party developers to include the design language into their applicationsBy 2015 almost all of Google's mobile applications for Google android experienced applied the new design dialect, including Gmail, YouTube, Yahoo Drive, Yahoo Docs, Slides and sheets, Yahoo Maps, Inbox, all the Yahoo Play-branded applications, and to a smaller level the Stainless- browser and Yahoo Keep. The desktop web-interfaces of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Inbox have incorporated it as well.The canonical execution of Material Design for web application user interfaces is named Polymer. It consists of the Polymer catalogue, a shim that provides an internet Components API for browsers that do not implement the standard natively, and an elements catalog, including the "paper elements collection" that features visual components of the Materials Design.
